Outtake 1 Video Release (22/3/2025)
I have uploaded a new video to the YouTube channel. This is an outtake video called ‘Stuttering, Demons and Engines.’
This outtake video is from early 2023 and was a companion to an unreleased video that reflected on ‘The Little Engine That Could.’ This reflection will not be released publicly, but I do plan to remake the reflection to a better writing standard.
Looking back on that original video I was glad I made it because it gave me a chance to try editing and animation. I made the animation using a similar set up as described in Magazine 2 (p. 12) for Video 4 ‘Waking Up.’
This was a magnetic board on top of a writing slope. The background was secured with magnets and using blue tack, I moved characters across the background. I also used wool to represent the smoke of the engines. The camera was secured to a tripod which was pointed at the background.
Meanwhile, for the outtake video, I went for an animatic style. First, I edited the audio and then I story boarded the video while listening to the audio. To create the frames, I drew them on paper before transferring them to tracing paper using fine liner. These were then scanned onto the computer using a printer.
Some of the drawings I made to represent myself are still used for the channel today. However, I will need to update these in the future as the drawing quality isn’t the best.
